What is FLCL? It is about the power of libido inside and out of the mind of our adolescent hero, who is trying to figure out how to be a person. Well, no, but yes. FLCL is highly expressive, very free associating, highly metaphorical, and does not always (or often) behave itself. This is the kind of anime where it feels like anything can happen (and there are no disappointments). The animation itself has a feeling of aliveness, one can feel the motion, like old time, hand-drawn Looney Toons or Disney. The humor is wacky, zany, slapstick; it is also a bit edgy, but not too bad. Recommended to those who are happy with the wrinkles in their brains and, of course, fans of Gurren Lagann.
